Enabling Codesign in the Software Tools Ecosystem Project (STEP)
Software tools are crucial for understanding and optimizing the performance and behavior of scientific applications. To do this job effectively, they must operate at the crossroads of applications, system software, facility operations, and platform technologies. These constraints present a daunting set of challenges, but also a rich opportunity for codesign. This talk will provide an overview of the nascent Software Tools Ecosystem Project (https://www.ascr-step.org) with a particular focus on how it plans to apply the principles of codesign to address critical cross-cutting challenges.
